Stuffy nose = Fussy baby

Angie continues to have a stuffy nose and temp. She has had a very difficult time sleeping and eating like normal. So most of the day was spent like this picture. You can see the exhaustion in my face. She would sleep best while lying reclined on someones chest. Poor baby. We hope that she feels better soon. Thanks to Grandma Kathy, Aunt Karen and Uncle Joe for being our on call medical help line.
Angie listening to her Daddy. Too cute.
Aunt Darby said that we should post a picture of Angie being fussy. So here is one of her crying. I still think she is cute.

Angie's Play Time

In this video you can hear Angie's poor little stuffy nose. She has had a stuffy nose and slight temp the last couple of days which breaks her parents hearts. She has been a good sport though as you can see in the video. We have her in the bouncy seat for play time so that her sinuses can drain better. Enjoy watching, we sure do.

Cute faces

Today Angie was wearing one of Andy's favorite onzies. You can't see it well but it says Favorite things Daddy, Hugs and Kisses. Daddy's hugs and kisses are really some of Angie's favorite things as well as mine.
I love the cute little faces Angie makes when I burp her. Here is one of them, a nice yawn.

Happy Birthday to Megan

It is my birthday today and here is a picture of me with my favorite present. I love being a mommy to this precious baby.
We went out to dinner with our friends Bruce (William), Kali, Logan and my sister Darby. Angela slept most of the time allowing us to eat a nice dinner.
After dinner we came back to our place to play and have some yummy ice cream cake that Darby got.
Wow, how do the years go by so quickly?

Thanks so much Grandma Kathy

Andy's mom Kathy left to return home today. It has been so nice to have her here. She got Angie and I to breastfeed without supplementing with formula. She did all our cooking, cleaning and laundry. She was always able to calm Angie with her magic touch. We are so grateful for all her help and love. We will miss having her around and look forward to when we can see her next.

Out for a walk

For an early birthday celebration Andy's mom took me, David and Angie out to dinner at the Neighborhood Grill. It is close enough so we decided to walk. I am trying to start adding activity slowly as I feel up to it. Today Andy's mom helped me get out all my normal clothes which I already fit into yeah. It is like I have a new wardrobe.

Angie is already rolling onto her side. I am afraid that she is going to grow up so fast. We are trying to enjoy each moment before they are gone and she has grown up.

No more umbilical cord. Yeah!

Today Angie's umbilical cord came off so Grandma and I wasted no time in giving her first non sponge bath. She was such a good baby during the whole bath. I am so lucky to have such a well tempered healthy baby.

How can my 9 day old baby have such a pudgy tummy?

Because I have such a good baby Grandma Kathy has had some down time to do some sewing. She has been working on Angie's blessing dress. She is almost done and still has some finishing touches but we wanted to see how it was fitting and could not help but take some cute photos. The baby blessing will be in October, if you would like to attend just ask and we will give you more info.
She was not looking at the camera but this is a picture of the full dress.

Andy got the baby swing put together and I think that Angie approves. Such a good baby.

More cute pictures

I was noticing that there were not as many pictures of me with Angie. This is probably because usually parts of me are exposed when I get to have her. She is starting to focus on people when talked to now. She has even been know to smile now and again but we have not been able to get photo evidence of this yet.
Here she is listening to her daddy talk to her. Too cute in my opinion. I just love seeing Andy and Angie interact.
At night for the last feeding before my bed time I have been pumping and Andy will feed it to her and include about one or two ounces of formula to hopefully top her off and help her sleep better. This helps give me feedback on how much milk I produce and how much she is eating. Andy also loves to be able to feed her and spend that quality time with her.

Some of my favorite recent pictures

Impromptu family photo Angie 4 days old
I love the curious eyes in this picture. She is looking at the most beautiful thing ever, a mirror on the toy. She is having play time while laying on the super soft "minky" (blanket) that her Great Grandma Ray made for her.
Angela sleeping with daddy
Angela sleeping with daddy again. At least some people are getting some sleep. Really I cannot complain she is a little angel baby. She is a good sleeper and a good eater with an occassional fussy time here and there.

Angela Comes Home

I'm not sure the hospital thought all the way through their procedures and policies, but they let me (us) take a baby home. It was also strange to sign forms as the "legal guardian". Yikes!

So yes, we were discharged today. Before that, poor Angela had a rough morning. The evil phlebotomistist came in to do a blood draws (multiple), we took some cute professional baby pictures, plus all the nurse and doctor checks, etc. It's nice to be home without so many interruptions. Baby is very content, and a very good eater.
Daddy holding baby Angela.
Angela strapped into the car seat ready to go home. And of course it was then when she decided to fill her diaper...
Mommy with Angela being wheeled out of the hospital.
(Don't let the door hit you on the way out...)
Gee, what a surprise... Aunt Darby holding Angela.
I call this baby camouflage. Her sleeper and matching blanket.
Go on Daddy, keep talking, I am so (yawn) interested...
This is the cutest thing. She is "blowing kisses" sucking on the pacifier.

Megan's family visiting us at the hospital: (L-R) Grandma Kris, Grandpa Bob (holding Angela), Cameron, Darby, and Megan (the tired looking one in the hospital bed, just in case you were wondering.)

Day 1 with our Angel

It's about 2:30am and Angela is just over a day old now. I'll give you 3 guesses what is going on at this moment... So while Megan does her magic that only she can do, I figured I would update the blog with a few more pictures of our Angel. She is such a good baby. We are so happy and so blessed to have such a happy, healthy baby.
Aunt Darby (Megan's sister) loves holding Angela.

More Pictures of our Angel

Grandma Kathy holding Angela.
Grandpa (aka "Grumpa") Bill and Grandma Yumiko holding Angela.

I thought this was hilarious. This proves Angela is my daughter. After Megan feed her as much as she could, I supplemented with a bottle. She's a messy eater, hence Daddy's gene...

Isn't she the cutest thing ever?

It's a Girl!!!

Angela Darlene was (finally) born today (ok, technically yesterday now), August 17th, 2008 at 11:05pm weighing in at 10 lbs 1 oz and 21 inches tall. Momma and baby are doing great. We are so thankful this moment has finally arrived and that everyone is healthy. More pictures to follow, of course!

Saturday Week 41 4/7

Today we went to the hospital for a procedure to help with dilation. This is not the best picture of me but this is me in the triage room waiting for the procedure. After the procedure and some monitoring we were released home until labor begins or 7am tomorrow morning which ever comes first. We then went home and have been doing all the final touches to prepare. I have been having some contractions but no "real" labor yet. Either way tomorrow should be the day. We are so excited and humbled at the thought of being parents.

Friday Week 41 3/7

Today was filled with doctor appointments. First we went to the hospital to be oriented on how the whole induction thing works. Then we went for another ultrasound and non stress test to make sure the baby was doing well. I have yet more fluid in my belly. I feel like Violet from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The baby was very lazy during the non stress test and we had to wake her up three times with this funny buzzing thing that made her about jump out of my skin. Too cute! Then Andy's mommy took me to acupuncture for labor inducement. After that we then ran errands and meet up with Andy to go out to dinner. I was having some mild contractions but they went away when I went to bed. Bummer.

Thursday Week 41 2/7

Today Andy's mommy baby sat me. She helped me do stuff around the house, make some curtains for our bedroom and we ran some errands. Not very exciting but it is nice to spend time with her and have her here to help out. We all just wish the baby was here.

Wednesday Week 41 1/7

Here is a picture of the beautiful flowers that Andy got for me to cheer me up on Friday. They are now in a beautiful bloom. (Yes Karen I have been thinking of the symbolic blooming) Today I spent the day with my sister. We/She baked banana bread and some yummy peanut butter brownies. We also went to the pool which has become my favorite form of exercise.

Tuesday Week 41

Today I spent the day with my sister. I know that I already published a post last week of a picture of me and my sister saying that might be the last picture of us with me pregnant with this baby. Well little did I know that I would still be pregnant a week later. Sorry about the inaccurate information. Today we spoiled ourselves by getting our haircut and styled. The Game Plan
Being one week overdue we went to the doctor today to have an ultrasound and non stress test. The ultrasound showed that I have more than normal amniotic fluid which is nothing to be worried about. It just means baby is comfortable and mommy is huge and uncomfortable. The baby responded well to the non stress test. My exam showed no real change from last week. So unless labor happens naturally here is the game plan. Friday morning go to the doctor office again for a ultrasound and non stress test to make sure baby is still doing well. Friday afternoon go to the acupuncturist for labor inducing treatment. Assuming no natural labor by Saturday, go to the hospital to have a pressure catheter placed to help with dilation then go home. Then assuming no labor by Sunday morning go to the hospital to start pitocin drip. I hope to be able to go into labor naturally but knowing that there will be an absolute end to my being pregnant by at least Sunday or Monday gives me some comfort.

Monday Week 40 6/7

I have been putting all of the cards we have received up on the mantle and looking at it reminds me of all the people that love and support us. We also appreciate all of the emails and comments on the blog that we have received showing love and encouragement. Thank you all so much!
Today I went to the pool with my sister Darby and mother in law Kathy. It is so nice to float and enjoy the beautiful weather. Who knows how many more days I may have like this. Then we went to the movies and saw Wall-E. It was cute but a little slow in the beginning because of little actual dialog, just robot noises and gestures.
